Liquid Chromatography Capabilities.

Various analytical methods utilizing HPLC equipment.  Includes gradient elution HPLC, isocratic (fixed solvent composition) HPLC, Gel permeation chromatography ( GPC ) also called size exclusion chromatography ( SEC ) and the special case of ion chromatography.

Gradient HPLC  (small molecules to ~5000 MW)

    Detectors available:
        Diode array UV-VIS.   Spectra on the fly,  3-D maps.
        Evaporative  light scattering ( ELSD).  Non-UV absorbers with gradient.
        Fluorescence.   Detection of native fluorescent or tagged species.
                                    Excitation and emission spectra on trapped peaks.
        Electrochemical.   Transition metal ions, oxidizable or reduceable
                                    species,  phenols carbonyl compounds.

Gel permeation Chromatography.  (determine polymer  molecular weight  
                                                                  distributions)

    Detectors available: Diode array UV-VIS.  Specta maps of polymers.         
        Differential refractive index ( DRI ). 
        Evaporative light scattering ( ELSD).  Higher sensitivity than DRI.    
        Fluorescence detector.  Native fluorescence, thermal damage,
                                                    end-group fluorescent tags.    
        Multi-angle light scattering.  Absolute Mw of polymers.

            Solvents:  Chloroform, THF, Toluene, 10% HFIP/Chloroform.

Ion Chromatography.  (anions and cations, carboxylic acid salts, amines)
