                    Imaging Technologies - Microscopy

Our light imaging technologies range from digital images of customer samples on receipt and through analysis to high magnification optical microscopy using specialized microscopy techniques.  We also have capabilities for imaging with X-rays, sound waves and thermal pulses.

Optical Imaging

Macro photography

  •     High resolution digital and film imaging.

Optical microscopy.  7X to 1000X.  

  •     Incident and transmitted light
  •     polarized light microscopy
  •     fluorescence microscopy
  •     Differential  Interference Contrast   (DIC)  imaging.
  •     Hot stage microscopy
  •     Chemical microscopy

UV-Vis Micro-spectrometry   

  • Micro color determination, fluorescence emission spectra,  pigment particle spectra, characterization of inks and paints.  10 micron minimum spot size. Wavelengths 300-900 nm.

Micro-FTIR   (IR spectrometry down to 15 um particle size). Identify defects in materials,  layer identification in multilayer films, paints and coatings.

Scanning electron microscopy. 

  • Magnification 50X to +10,000 X, SE and BSE imaging.
    Digital imaging.

X-ray micro-imaging.   

  • X-ray radiography 1:1 to 400X.  High resolution digital images.

XRF elemental mapping.

  • 50 um particle limit.   Surface analysis techniques, solution concentration.

Scanning Acoustic Microscopy. 

  • Imaging of defects in micro-electronics, determination of voids and cracks in opaque materials.
